I Left My First Love Back Home

First Love Poems Part 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I left my first love
Back home, you know,
I left him
So to America I could go.

He sent me red roses,
He told my mom
To give the roses to me,
And he sent me his name
To carry on a chain!

Each time he called me,
Each letter he sent,
He made me cry,
So I told my mom
To let the roses die.

Years have passed.
He said he would come to see me,
And I said, Do it if you must.
So we talked for hours,
About our lives and our past.

Our getting together
Was a sweet sorrow,
But it could not bring back
The old lust.
By now our roads
Were covered with dust.

We had steak,
And we drank the red wine,
And he said not to change,
To stay sweet;
And I told him
That the fault was all mine.

And before he left, I knew
Those green eyes I would miss,
So I pulled him closer to me,
And sealed our parting with a kiss!

And I said
Sayonara, my love,
This time I know
That you are leaving,
But before you go,
Let me have one more kiss...
My love, Jatem, I love you...
Good bye.
