When the sun goes down this evening
If for me it's the last time
There are things I need to say to you
While I've got them on my mind
First of all, I want to thank you
For those long years that we've had
How we learned to grow together
In the good times and the bad
I'd thank you for our children
Who have grown so strong and true
While they learned some lessons from me
They have learned the most from you
I'd thank you for the sunshine
That you brought into my life
For you were my shelter from life's storms
You protected me from strife
And if my life is over
One thing I'd ask of you
Will you always just remember
That my love for you was true
And if it's time to leave you
Girl I can not say goodbye
For I'll be your very special star
Look up to the night sky
Perhaps you'll wish upon me
I'll make that wish come true
And sprinkle stardust in your dreams
My one, my only, you
Then when you follow after me
As fate says you must do
I'll be right there by old heavens gate
Dear, waiting just for you
Yes I would tell you many things
But in short before we'd part
One last time I'd say I love you
