This Isn’t Goodbye

Laughter filled this room

many times again & again

 

we’d sit for hours not saying

anything at all,words weren’t

always needed, somehow

we each knew the others thoughts.

 

Close as sisters, our friendship

was deep and true

then one day it all came down

to saying goodbye to you.

 

I tried to say it, I really did

I couldn’t do it, I didn’t want

our friendship to end like this

 

goodbye seems so final

how about see you later

or something like that.

 

Too many times in my life

the people I loved said goodbye

never did they come back

I was left alone wondering

 

was it me, did I do something wrong

for them not to come back

 

this is not a goodbye

it just a note to you

I love you, I won’t forget you

 

you’ll always be with me

tucked in my heart

though at times you feel

like you’re a million miles away.
